In 1981, Southwest Technologies, Inc., the first company to discover and introduce the many therapeutic uses of glycerine technology in a polymer matrix to the medical field, was founded to design, manufacture, market and distribute pressure relief, hot/cold therapy and wound care products under the name Elasto-Gel. All Elasto-Gel products utilize this unique and versatile glycerine technology. Our wheelchair cushion, heel/ankle protector boot and crutch-mate pressure relief systems are just a few examples of innovative products utilizing Elasto-Gel technology.
Another first for Southwest Technologies, Inc., was to discover the effectiveness of glycerine gel for use in hot/cold therapy. Presently, we offer over 40 different sizes and shapes of hot/cold therapy products for the relief of minor aches and pains. This unique combination of specially selected fabrics combined with the elastic, conforming gel provides a family of comfortable, durable, effective hot/cold therapy products.
In 1987, Southwest Technologies Inc, received FDA approval to market Elasto-Gel as a wound care hydrogel for wound care management. Elasto-Gel helps control the conditions that can inhibit the healing process. Today, Elasto-Gel continues to be the leading dressing that effectively decreases the time for most wounds to heal, decreases dressing change frequency, decreases the amount of products required to manage the wound and assures a satisfactory clinical outcome.
Southwest Technologies Inc., is continually expanding the versatility and use of Elasto-Gel as a wound care dressing. TOE-AID toe wound gel dressing is a unique dressing that can be used to help eliminate fungus under the toenail or as a dressing for use after the nail has been removed. The Elasto-Gel Horseshoe Dressing is another product addition designed to help in the prevention and management of pressure ulcers in the coccyx area.
In addition to our Elasto-Gel products, we market additional products such as Sta-Fix water resistant tape, Finger Bob bandages and Flex-O-Foot heel protection products.
